Camp Eden Health Resort's Environmental Practice

Both the lodges and the reception centre share similar energy management principles. These include the use of seasonal vegetation, thermally massive materials and appropriate building siting.
Both building types make use of timber trellis with seasonal vines for sun control. In summer thick foliage shades the buildings, while in winter sun penetrates the building fabric.
Natural stone and blockwork are thermally massive materials shielding bad weather and reducing energy consumption. Similarly the sod roof over the reception centre provides a thermal heat bank moderating seasonal temperatures in the building to reduce energy costs.
The lodges and reception centre are designed to provide an exciting experience for guests and employees while connecting physically and visually with the external environment. |
